Responses to # 8.
Thanks for e-link!!
Your doing a great job, I love reading the e-link!
Would like to see more advocacy for traditional marriage, and support and options for persons with same sex attraction.
Avoid politicizing the gospels. Focused subject matters. Streamlined activities so we are not scattered. Every year, have four or so broad public policy goals and maintain focus on those goals - do not get sidetracked or helter skelter.
I spend time each week writing legislators and e-mailing legislators. I'm not sure why I shy away from callng. Maybe hands-on or web-based training to reduce this psychological barrier would help me and others. Also, IS A PHONE CALL REALY MORE EFFECTIVE THAN A LETTER? Maybe addressing that question might prompt me to change course here - if the answer is "yes".
The bulletin is too long. This is a complaint I hear from other parishioners. It is is a wonderful program and hope it grows throughout the parishes. It is a wonderful tool to make a difference and bring us all together
Keep up the GOOD WORK!!!! I look forward to reading each issue. It is a quick and neat way to keep informed of what is happening, what I might be able to do about it, and a source of information to disseminate to others.
I miss the interaction of the conferences/meetings held at the Pastoral Center but I understand that the e-link is much more comprehensive. Several of our parishioners said it was too long and too much to read. If posssible and I know this is difficult, is to get information to attend activity/meeting at least two weeks in advance of the event. Another idea is to have a calendar listing all events by name only and have details reported below the calendar. this would make it possible to view at a glance what is coming up. Just a thought. On the whole I find the e-link important and worthwhile but family health problems keep me from being as involved as I used to be, hopefully this will change.
SAME AS ABOVE COMMENTS. PRAYERS.
Hi Kent, Linda, Jim, and Joseph, Keep up the great work!
none. So far so good.
Excellent as currently written. Maybe add color or graphics as appropriate to give emphasis to particular elements of e-link. A question & answer section and/or input section by individuals might be of good value.
I enjoy receiving the link and reading the articles and commentary. Keep it coming, please.
I only submit to e-link to know what's going on and to pass the information out to our parishioners
I like seeing others from around the diocese contribute in the remarks section - try expanding the thought in this section by using experts in the fields or the issues that the OSM deals with
Just wish I had more time to read it. I find that when I do read it I spend more time than I should doing so because it is very interesting - that's a compliment, not a criticism!
I have just begun receiving e-link data online.
regarding #7E, it is not too likely only because of scheduling issues, not due to a lack of desire
I would prefer more frequent e-mails with fewer items in each one. I am less likely to contact legislators at present because so many in California are left-wing and hopelessly unfriendly to the Catholic agenda. I also think your quest for minimum wage increases is, as a prudential matter, counter-productive and decidedly not a moral issue in a modern economy. I am persuaded that it would cost more jobs than it would increase living wages. On the truly moral issues, i.e.: abortion, parental notification, etc. I am totally with you.
I think e-link is too lengthy. I do not have the time to read through it, nor are any of the headlines very motivating/enticing to make me want to read it. Perhaps a different format would work better rather than just one very long newsletter, for example, multiple tabs that have specific headings on each tab where one can click on a tab to read that specific topic.
Elink is very helpful because it covers a large spectrum of life issues and ways to get involved. For the past year or more I couln't receive them and I had to get them via osmelink. Then recently I was kicked out of the site everytime I pressed on the March issue.A prolife member was able to go around the problem (unsolved)so I could access the bulletins and I re-registered to receive elink.Thank you
I think you are all doing a great job. The format is easy to read, pictures clear, message and requests are well presented.
I very much appreciate the contact provided by this website. I have encouraged others in my parish to sign up, and will continue that encouragement. Please keep up the good work!
I need to find a way to get e-link to come directly into my e-mail instead of into my SPAM folder. I check my SPAM mail to recover it for now!
Keep on doing what you are doing. We need to know what is going on whether we participate or not.
I am permanently out-of-state, but I like the e-link as a pro-life resource.
I think it is very important to continue with e-link ! This year I haven't had too much opportunity to be pro-active, as I have in the past, but I intend to continue, with the help of E-link keeping me abreast of up-coming advocacy requests! THANK-YOU ! GREAT WORK !
Please continue this important ministry and know you are in our prayers. God bless
I think it's very well done and plan to promote it in my church bulletin.
I think you are doing a great job.
You offer an excellent service /ministry t our diocese and its people. May God richly bless your committed efforts.
ag ain as I mentioned above: For me to be real committed and involved in all this advocacy action, it can not always singel out the abortion issue. all the above mentioned issues need to be kept in balance with the OSM in order for me to participate. I want to see an equal focus. Death penalty and workers justice is supremely important
It's good, but get rid of the plastic surgery ads... wait, is that e-link or.....
Thanks for the survey
I would like to see the notion of pro-life expended to issues in addition to abortion so that as much space be given to issues like immigration, health care, jobs, housing, criminal justice, education as is given to abortion.
Possibly step up the information concerning the adverse impact on what's going on legislatively. We need to be proactive in combatting glorification of homosexuality, infanticide and the perversity eroding morality.
Stop supporting ILLEGAL ALIENS, they're criminals. Stick to church business!
EACH REPORT IS TOO LONG.
Thank you for all the work you do!
I think it's great. Keep up the good work
Maybe have a section that would highlight events/issues that would be of interest to young adults in particular.
Just not that politically active.
It's a great service you provide, but often I don't have the time to read it thoroughly. Reading the survey makes me think I should be more proactive.
My interests are primarily in the social justice arena.
Please start educating Catholics on the inherent dangers of socialism. This is something the late Archbishop Fulton Sheen spoke of many times, as did Popes Leo XIII thru Pius the XII. It is astounding to often see our local Catholic church actually promoting the heresy of socialism, couched in the euphemistic term "social justice". True justice is giving to each his due. - St Thomas Aquinas
If you could shorten it up a bit, I would probably read more of it. Even sending it twice as often--but shorter.
We are being divided in spirit by fear mongerers. The nation is at peril because of a secretive government which is collecting information on people similar to pre- war Germany. The Church is saying nothing about this. When will it speak out? When they come to put you on the trains for having the wrong relatives, opinions, or faith? Did the German people think it could not happen? Why is Halliburton building prisons in this country? Who are they for? Illegall immigrants or something else?
Excellent tool - keep up your excellent job
You are doing a great job by keeping us informed. Thank you!
I do the advocacy but do not report back because I do not want my name in the next newletter
Don't keep repeating the same stuff Links to good resources/ books Discounts to goods and services Sharing used religious books A column about Catholic theology questions from readers A column about tough Bible questions: Why do we pray to Mary? Why do many non-Catholic Christians say that Peter was not the first pope? What is the Church's position about the divinely inspired writings about the life of St. Joseph? What is the Church's position about the Gospel of Judas? Movie reviews General news-worthy items, like saving the Mt. Soledad Cross, attacks on the Boy Scouts by ACLU, Muslim Girl Scouts changing the Scout oath to say "Alla" instead of "God", etc. Spice it up! Make it lively! Make it worth reading!
Ask those how frequent the site for suggestions on topics or specialty items for the site.
OSM is going directly to the heart of the issues what most Catholics would have missed. Keep pressing on.
I am interested in mostly as the virutal knowledge aspect of E-link. Most of the time there are schedule conflicts for events.
I would like to see a broader scope of issues addresses. The greater majority of issues addresses concerns abortion. While I disapprove of abortion, more social justice issues should be addressed, eg. peace & justice, the poor, unfair labor practices, support for women in the church and in society, etc.
I think that having e-mail links and letters all written up, with a send button (like Grassfire and some of the others do) is very helpful. On some, you just put in your zip code and after you have put in your name and address the first time, then there after all you need is your zip code and somehow there is a cookie or something that fills in the blanks automatically.
e-link is very informative and I do pass on the information to my friends and other groups I attend.
I have only been on the e-link for a couple months so I may become more involved as time goes by. Keep up the good work--this is definitely the way reach people in this day and age!!!
If I felt that my voice would be heard, I would be happy to perform the above tasks for important causes.
I do e-mail our legislators on subjects suggested by you, but generally I don't make phone calls. The e-mails are received and the legislators always answer. I think they are probably at least as effective as phone calls. As far as improvements, I would say that brief reports are always better and more likely to be read than long ones. Leave out all but the most pithy and important reports. And please don't beg, wheedle, or cajole. Just tell what you think God is doing and where we fit into these things here in San Diego. People who receive this letter want to be of service.
The e-link is a great way to stay connected to what is happening throughout the diocese. Keep up the good work!
thank you for ask me
I appreciate the titles/subtitles on the sections. If I'm short on time, I can easily find the information that matters to me most. Thanks for all your efforts.
...hope you get a good response....
Can it be sent to all those who subscribe to Southern Cross? Will pastors send it out to parishioners if their e-mail address is available? Get some young men and women (Catholic High Schools) on board to get e-link out to their contempories.
